There is hardly a more positive word in the English language than “overcomes.”  When I read or hear it,  I sense victory, persistence, and durability. Overcome—what a powerful yet curious word! Dictionary definitions primarily convey the word overcome as a verb meaning, “to struggle successfully against a difficulty or disadvantage.” I like verbs, a lot! Struggle hardly needs any adverbs, but the defining word “successfully” leaves very little room to suggest anything less than complete victory.
